True School Lives

Your source of authentic, beat machine hip hop music you can’t get from the radio anymore.

About

Fresh Chopped Beats / MADK Productions is a record label that provides true school, head nodding, boom bap hip hop to fans of the authentic beat machine music you can’t get from the radio anymore. We are a co-operative group of artists who decide their own fate, working together for the advancement of all.

Dume41

Creative Director

Dume41 is the founder the rap groups Several Active Minds and The Building Project, music production crew The Konstructicons, and record label Fresh Chopped Beats. Behind the knobs and hot tubes, he presses each beat through fire and finesse until it gleams with soul—the final glaze on a plate of Fresh Chopped Beats.

His latest album, Plus Degree Solar, the follow up to the well-received God Save The King, is out now.

King Khazm

Executive Director

King Khazm is the founder of community organization 206 Zulu, television show Hip Hop 101, radio show 206 Zulu, hip hop super group MAD Krew, and co-creator of Jazz Fusion band Mid-Century Modern.

His latest solo full length album, Return of MAD, is out now.

FUN FACTS

  • MADK Productions was originally founded to distribute records by MADKrew affiliate Cyphalliance. It eventually ended up exposing the world to Abyssinian Creole (consisting of Khingz, Gabriel Teodros, DJ WD4D and Kitone) and co-releasing the groundbreaking 911 Amerika album.
  • Fresh Chopped Beats was founded mainly to release albums by Several Active Minds and their solo members. When the authentic sound of hip hop seemed to be evaporating, FCB reached out to Specs Wizard, the holy ghost of northwest hip hop, to begin co releases.
  • Dume and Khazm originally met on MySpace and their conversations centered around nothing but Graffiti. Eventually each realized that the other had some of the puzzle pieces for more successful album releases, and King Khazm’s network was combined with Dume41’s labwork in 2009.
  • Dume and Specs grew up next door to one another. Specs took Dume under his wing, freestyling at the old Gym and drawing comics and graffiti on the project stoops.
